John Grubb (Flash), was originally
born in Cleveland, Ohio but moved to Gallipolis, Ohio in the early 70’s.
He has been playing Guitar since 1972. Some call him a compulsive
musician as he has to always be playing something or playing somewhere.
John plays a wide variety of styles on several
different instruments, sometimes at the same time.
He plays various styles of acoustic guitar such
as Finger style, Flat-picking, bluegrass, Celtic, and “Old Time” music.
On the Electric Guitars John’s solos are played at lightning speed. His
first band gave him the nickname “Flash” due to the flash of his hands
flowing across the neck weather using a pick, ebow or slide. John also
plays keyboards, mandolin, fiddle, Banjo, Ukulele, Bass, Drums, lap and
hammered Dulcimers.
He has written a few songs, all of which have
received air play.
John’s vocal harmonizing ability comes from the
many years early in his career when he was singing Gospel with his
family, sometimes on live radio and T.V.
He has opened for the Charlie Daniels Band and
many Professional Gospel Bands, his most recent for "The Isaacs" in
spring of 2011. He has performed at many Fairs and Festivals all over
the Midwest and East Coast.
He is currently playing Guitar, Mandolin, and
Fiddle in an Irish band called Amhráin which is Irish for
"Song" with the
extremely talented musicians John Hogan and Jason Burton.
Amhráin will be playing March 8th for a private
dinner and
March 17th around 7:00 P.M for the St. Patrick's Day Party at the
Portsmouth
Cafe and Pub in Portsmouth, Ohio.
John will doing a solo appearance at April
18th at the
Portsmouth
Cafe and Pub in Portsmouth, Ohio.
John has played with the gospel group "The
Canterbury Family Singers" for the past 14 years at many Nursing Homes and
Churches. |
